The Power Of The Internet

You don’t have to be a large Corporation or have millions of dollars in today’s world to get your message heard.  Dave Carroll had a problem.  While travelling from Halifax to Omaha with his band Sons of Maxwell, his Taylor guitar was broken by United Airlines baggage handlers.  We all have had an unpleasant flying experience.  Dave’s unpleasant flying experience cost him $1,200 in repair bills.  Dave was given the run around trying to get compensated for United Airlines mistake.  After more than a year of unsuccessful attempts to get reimbursed, Dave used his creative song writing abilities to write and produce a YouTube video titled “United Breaks Guitars”.  As of present writing (July 10, 2009) this video has over 1.3 million views and has been on YouTube less than a week.  After the positive success, United decided to eat some crow and offer to negotiate a settlement.  I bet United officials wished they had taken care of this customer’s unpleasant experience before the video was posted on YouTube!  Some important internet marketing points about this situation:
1)    The Internet is the easiest, fastest, cheapest way anyone can get their message out.
2)    It always pays to take care of your customers.
